A 24-kilometre stretch of Highway 3 west of Castlegar has fully reopened following a vehicle incident that shut down the route for much of Wednesday.

DriveBC confirmed just after 4 p.m. that the highway is clear and all lanes are open between Highway 3B and Crestview Crescent.

The closure, located about 14 kilometres west of Castlegar near the Paulson, had been in place since earlier in the day (Nov. 5).

Traffic was previously being detoured via Highway 3B through Rossland and Highway 22 while crews responded.

No details have been released about the nature of the crash or whether anyone was injured.

Authorities are urging drivers to continue checking DriveBC for road condition updates.
