Highlights! Zachary Reese sparks UFC Vegas 111 ‘Prelims’ with short-notice submission

Zachary Reese turned a short-notice opportunity into his first UFC submission win earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 8, 2025) at UFC Vegas 111 LIVE on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, stopping middleweight prospect Jackson McVey in the second round to spark the “Prelims” undercard.
Reese, who was coming off a No Contest against Sedriques Dumas his last time out, received a call from UFC matchmakers on Tuesday and was asked to step up on a few days notice. “Savage” didn’t get to fight all that much in his bout with Dumas so he gladly accepted the challenge. Standing in his way of a short-notice win was McVey, who coughed up his UFC debut in a submission loss to Bruno Ferreira this past July.

Saturday’s matchup opened up with about a full minute of sharp elbows and knees from both men in the clinch. It was pretty violent, but ultimately an exchange that ended up favoring McVey. “Moose” bloodied Reese pretty badly and opened up a cut above his left eye. Reese dug deep, though, and was able to withstand the punishment to last the round.
Reese took zero risks to begin the second round as the UFC veteran utilized his wrestling to score a takedown along the fence. From there, “Savage” was able to transition to McVey’s back, sink in a tight rear-naked choke, and force the tap to spark UFC Vegas 111’s “Prelims” undercard.
