$1 million NY Lottery prize remains unclaimed with deadline approaching

A New York Lottery player is running out of time to claim their $1 million dollar prize.
The state lottery has issued a final alert for a second prize-winning Mega Millions ticket purchased in Nassau County last year.
The ticket, which was bought at Cold Cut Express on 507 Dubois Ave. in Valley Stream, was drawn on Dec. 13, 2024.
Though it missed the Mega Ball 16, the ticket matched the five white ball numbers (36-43-52-58-65) and was a $1 million winner.
The deadline to claim this significant win is fast approaching on Dec. 13, 2025. Under New York Lottery rules, winners have exactly one year from the draw date to submit their claim, or the prize is forfeited.
Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket is asked to sign the back immediately and secure it safely. Winners can contact the New York Lottery for instructions by calling 518-388-3370 or visit www.nylottery.ny.gov.
Unclaimed prizes, along with any interest, are typically retained by the Lottery and can be used for special prizes or promotions for up to sixteen weeks annually, though the commission is capped at spending $60 million from the prize account in a fiscal year. Any unclaimed money exceeding this limit is transferred to the state treasury to support the state lottery fund.
