Former Falcons kicker to start for New York Giants in Week 10

Younghoe Koo will make his first start since being released by Atlanta in Week 1.
The 2025 NFL season hasn’t been a great year for kickers, and the Atlanta Falcons know this better than anyone. In Week 10, the team will start its third different kicker against the Indianapolis Colts in Berlin. Longtime Falcons starter Younghoe Koo was released by the team after missing a game-tying field goal attempt in Week 1.
Parker Romo replaced Koo from Weeks 2-9, and despite his initial success, he missed a critical extra point in Atlanta’s 24-23 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday. The Falcons released Romo earlier this week and signed veteran Zane Gonzalez.
As for Koo, he signed with the New York Giants practice squad in Week 4 but has yet to appear in a game this season. According to Giants head coach Brian Daboll, the former Pro Bowl kicker is on track to start in Week 10.
Koo’s first start since Week 1 just happens to come on the same day that Gonzalez will make his Falcons debut.
Koo, who started for the Falcons from 2019 to 2025, missed just one field goal this season before losing his job. However, Koo struggled in the first half of 2024 before going on the injured reserve list. Over his six-plus seasons in Atlanta, Koo converted 178 of 205 field-goal attempts, and 166 of 173 extra points.
The Giants have been dealing with kicker injuries all year. With veteran Graham Gano likely out for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears, Koo will finally get his chance at redemption. Meanwhile, the Falcons are hoping Gonzalez can solidify the kicker position over the final nine games of the season.
Atlanta will face the Indianapolis Colts in Berlin this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. ET. The Falcons will look to end a three-game losing streak against a 7-2 Colts team and potentially save their season.
