In a heartwarming gesture, Ritika Sajdeh, wife of veteran Indian batter Rohit Sharma, took to Instagram to celebrate the 23rd birthday of Mumbai Indians (MI) cricketer Tilak Varma. The special occasion fell on Saturday, November 8, and Ritika shared her affection through a couple of delightful pictures, captioning one of them with “Happiest birthday to our favourite.”
Tilak Varma, a promising talent from Hyderabad, has developed a close bond with Rohit Sharma’s family, often seen enjoying their company during the Indian Premier League (IPL). His connection with the Sharma family extends to Rohit’s daughter, Samaira, whom he dedicated his maiden T20I fifty celebration to after achieving this milestone in August 2023 against the West Indies.
As Varma celebrated his birthday, he was preparing to take the field later that day as India faced off against Australia in the fifth and final match of their T20I series at The Gabba in Brisbane. India entered this crucial match with a 2-1 lead in the series, having secured a commanding 48-run victory in the fourth T20I just a couple of days prior on November 6 in Queensland.
Looking at Tilak Varma’s cricketing achievements, he made his IPL debut in 2022 with MI and has since become a significant player for the franchise. Over 54 matches, he has accumulated 1,499 runs, boasting an impressive average of 37.47 and a strike rate of 144.41, punctuated by eight half-centuries.

Notably, he played a pivotal role in India’s victory in the 2025 Asia Cup, scoring an unbeaten 69 runs in the final against Pakistan. In addition to his T20 achievements, the young cricketer has also participated in four One Day Internationals (ODIs), where he has scored 68 runs at an average of 22.66.
