Marine Corps marks 250th anniversary with commemorative coin

Happening today — the U.S. Marine Corps turns 250 years old.

On this day in 1775, John Adams drafted a resolution that created what was then known as the Continental Marines.

To honor the milestone, the U.S. Mint unveiled a special commemorative coin.

There are currently more than 200,000 active duty and reserve Marines serving across the country.
