Remembrance Day, Nov. 11, falls on a Tuesday this year. Most stores and municipal offices will be closed for the day.

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed on Nov. 11:

Retail and grocery

  • Most Shoppers Drug Mart locations will be open, depending on the location.
  • Sobeys, Real Atlantic Superstore and Walmart stores will be closed.
  • N.B. Liquor stores will be closed.
  • Regent Mall in Fredericton, McAllister Place in Saint John and Champlain Place in Dieppe will be closed.
  • The Saint John City Market will be closed.

Government offices, public services

  • Service Canada will be closed.
  • Service New Brunswick will be closed. 
  • Saint John City Hall, Fredericton City Hall, Moncton City Hall and civic administrative offices will be closed.
  • Saint John Transit and Fredericton Transit will not operate.
  • Codiac Transpo in Moncton will run on a modified schedule.
  • Fredericton and Saint John garbage collection will carry on as usual. In Fredericton, schedules may vary, so garbage containers should be set out by 7 a.m.
  • Public libraries regularly open on Mondays will be closed Tuesday.

Universities and schools

  • Schools will be closed.
  • Remembrance Day falls during studio week for New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in Fredericton, so there will be no classes. 
  • New Brunswick Community College and Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick will have no classes. 
  • Remembrance Day falls during reading week for the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University so there will be no classes. Most university offices, besides essential services, will be closed. 
  • Mount Allison University and Université de Moncton won’t have classes and university offices will be closed.
