13-year-old girl charged with armed robbery in Woree

A 13-year-old girl has been charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Mulgrave Road on October 17. According to authorities, she was located by officers following investigations into the incident. It is alleged that during the robbery, an employee at the service station was threatened with a screwdriver, and both cash and cigarettes were stolen while the store was vandalized. The girl is also accused of participating in a previous theft at the same location on September 21. She is facing one count of armed robbery in company and two counts of stealing, and is scheduled to appear before the Cairns Children’s Court tomorrow, November 12.
In another case, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested following the theft of a Jaguar XF at a service station on Gatton Street early this morning, November 11. The vehicle was reportedly stolen from a Mindil Close address before being spotted by police around 1:30 a.m. Officers observed the occupants of the vehicle opening the driver’s door upon noticing a police car and attempting to flee by reversing at high speed, which resulted in the door being torn off and extensive damage caused to a fuel pump and water pipe at the service station. The stolen vehicle was later found near the corner of Edgar and Spence Streets in Bungalow, where both individuals were apprehended after a brief chase on foot. They have been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstructing police. The 19-year-old has also been charged with breach of bail and has been denied bail pending a court appearance today, while the 17-year-old is set to appear before the Cairns Children’s Court on November 19. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
In a separate incident, a 30-year-old woman from Lockhart River has been charged for violent behavior following an altercation at a bus stop on Lake Street early this morning. CCTV footage reportedly captured her fighting with others shortly after 1 a.m. Police were summoned to the scene, where the woman was issued a $500 infringement notice for her actions. Additionally, she received a 30-day banning notice for the Safe Night Precinct, illustrating concerns about safety in the area.
