Oilers place F Nugent-Hopkins on IR, move Kapanen to LTIR

The Edmonton Oilers have placed forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the injured reserve list Monday and moved winger Kasperi Kapanen to long-term injured reserve.

Forward Mattias Janmark was activated from IR and is set to make his season debut tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets after sitting out since training camp with an undisclosed injury.

Nugent-Hopkins is set to miss a week of action with an undisclosed injury. He played 14:50 in Saturday’s 9-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche and was a minus-4.

The 32-year-old has five goals and 16 points in 16 games this season.

Kapanen, 29, has missed the past 10 games with an undisclosed injury. He was injured on Oct. 19 against the Detroit Red Wings, exiting the game after playing just 5:43.

He has two assists in six appearances this season.

The Oilers are 6-6-4 through 16 games this season and are seventh in the Western Conference wild-card standings.
