EastEnders’ Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) finds herself in the midst of another traumatic ordeal next week when a confrontation leads to deadly consequences.

The character has been through the mill recently after she was brutally beaten up by her darkly misogynistic stepson Joel Marshall (Max Murray).

With the teen currently in custody, next week Vicki receives the news that he is intending on pleading not guilty to her attack, which means the case will go to trial.

The prospect of going to court sends Vicki into a spin, and a series of dramatic events unfold, which end up with her leaving a character for dead after an accident.

Things all kick off on Monday during a quiz night at The Vic, where Vicki becomes concerned by the behaviour of a man called Damon, who is on a date with Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams).

‘When she later hears him on the phone and gets what she believes is confirmation that she’s right about him, she snaps,’ reveals Alice Haig, who plays Vicki.

‘The trouble is that Vicki has had quite a bit to drink, and she lets him know what she thinks of him in a very public way. So, she embarrasses everyone, including herself.’

Later, Vicki follows Damon into the laundrette, and another row erupts. But as Damon approaches Vicki, she pushes him away and he falls badly, hitting his head.

‘Damon is very intimidating and quite aggressive with her, verbally not physically, but Vicki is not in the right place to deal with it. So she ends up pushing him and the situation gets very serious,’ Alice explains.

Luckily for her, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) arrives at the scene and quickly springs into action to protect her.

Alice says this is a ‘massive thing’ for Vicki, as after months of her former partner Alex Walkinshaw failing to protect her from his son Joel, having someone ‘caring for her and looking out for her is quite a powerful thing’.

As Vicki and Zack later head home, a heart-to-heart between them leads to a charged moment and they share a passionate kiss.

What they soon realise, however, is that Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) has seen everything!

Alice explains: ‘After a long night, Vicky is feeling stronger… and they have a laugh about something and it develops into an intense moment of passion.

‘They don’t expect to end up kissing and they certainly don’t expect Kathy to walk in and catch them!’

Knowing their kiss could have huge implications on their family dynamic with their shared sister Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Vicki and Zack try to play things down, insisting it was a moment of madness – but has a romantic spark been ignited between them?

EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 17 November at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
