Vinted users have taken to social media to complain about a major change to the selling platform.
The Vinted app has become a popular second-hand marketplace for buyers and sellers due to its convenient customer to customer format and for having no seller fees.
People can sell old clothes, shoes, electricals and more on Vinted, where they can choose a price and describe the item, including listing its size.
But on Monday, November 10, some Vinted users spotted a major change to the platform’s sizing guide and took to social media platform Reddit to share their thoughts.
Reddit user Cardboard_rocks shared into one thread: “The sizing guide has changed and everything is now bridging two sizes. All my favourited items are now incorrectly labelled as the categories are showing larger than before.
“A vintage size 14 skirt i had favourited (which i know is actually now a size 12) has been changed by vinted to a size 20-22. The poor seller!”

The post has racked up more than 200 comments from other Vinted users who are experiencing the same change, with sellers complaining that their listings are now listed as the wrong size.
Vinted confirmed that it has changed the sizing categories to make them “more accurate” and “consistent” with sizing on other platforms.
However users have pointed out that some larger items are now listed several sizes above what they actually are, with a size Medium, that was previously a size 10, now listed as a UK size 12-14 and a Large, previously a 12, now listed as a UK size 16-18.
One Vinted buyer has replied to the thread complaining: “Absolutely hate it. I’m very much a size 10, not an 8. It’s going to be impossible to buy stuff without having to message every seller for the right size. Why have they done this!”
The change has been dubbed a “disaster”, by one Vinted user who wrote on the thread: “It’s a disaster . I have over 100 listings and they have all changed and now x2 sizes bigger.”
And another person has shared: “Just checked one of my dresses, and it’s gone from a size 14 to a size 22. This is mad,” and similarly another user said: “All my items are totally the wrong size now.”

One person has suggested that when listing an item, include a picture of the label. They wrote: “Always, ALWAYS include a photo of the actual item size label.
“And if you are a buyer, never, NEVER buy an item unless the seller includes a photo of the size label.”
A Vinted spokesperson told the M.E.N: “We’ve updated our size guidelines for women’s and kid’s clothing to make sizing more accurate across international brands. UK members will have received a message in their Vinted inbox with more details and you can also find full information on our Help Centre.”
Explaining the change on its website, Vinted said: “In our old system, numeric sizes scaled in a way that was inconsistent with the international letter size. For example, our old sizing system incorrectly paired a UK numeric size 16 to letter size XXL. However, we found that other size systems typically align UK 16 with L.”
Vinted said existing listings have automatically changed to the new system so users are encouraged to review their listings to ensure sizes are accurate.
