London & Middlesex Community Housing (LMCH), in partnership with the City of London, has officially celebrated the grand opening of Reimagine Southdale at 955 Southdale Road East.
This project was LMCH’s first new construction project in more than 50 years in the city, in line with its strategic plan for affordable housing.
What began as a single-building plan evolved into a multi-phase, mixed-income community designed to meet the diverse needs of Londoners while promoting inclusion, accessibility, and a sense of belonging.
“This is a proud moment for both LMCH and the City of London,” said Mayor Josh Morgan.
“Reimagine Southdale reflects precisely the kind of progress we’re striving for as a city.”
Mayor Morgan emphasized that this project forms a critical part of London’s housing strategy, particularly in expanding rent-geared-to-income units and affordable homes.
The 29,000,000 project has been funded with the support of the. The City of London, guided by feedback from tenants, architects, and community partners, replaces 18 older townhouses with new, modern, energy-efficient units, creating homes that are both accessible and affordable.
“I’ve seen firsthand the importance of housing that supports dignity, stability, and opportunity,” said Paul Chisholm, CEO of LMCH.
“Reimagine Southdale demonstrates what’s possible when LMCH and the City work together to reinvest in existing communities.”
Future phases of Reimagine Southdale will continue to build on this success.
