How to nominate a Detroit Free Press High School Athlete of the Week

Update Friday, Nov. 7: Congratulations to Morgan Janowski of L’Anse Creuse North High School for being voted the Detroit Free Press Buffalo Wild Wings Girls Athlete of the Week.
It’s time to vote for the Detroit Free Press Buffalo Wild Wings Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.
This week’s poll features three players – two cross country state champions and one volleyball player. All had standout performances during the week of Oct 26-Nov. 1.
Voting will be open until noon on Friday, Nov. 7.
Here are the nominees (listed in alphabetical order by last name):
Natasza Dudek, Ann Arbor Pioneer, cross country
The sophmore runner led the Pioneers to their first Division 1 state championship since 2021. Dudek also set a MHSAA record time of 16:09.5 in the girls 5K event at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, Nov. 1. She broke the previous record of 16:28.05, held by former Ann Arbor Pioneer runner Rachel Forsyth, according to MHSAA records.
Morgan Janowski, L’Anse Creuse North, volleyball
Janowski and the Crusaders won their regular-season finale, defeating Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse, 3-0, on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The senior outside hitter recorded 45 digs, 37 kills, four blocks and four aces.
Kaylie Lingtson, Whitmore Lake, cross country
Lingston won her second consecutive Division 4 individual state title and helped Whitmore Lake earn its third-straight team championship on Saturday. The junior won the girls title in the 5k event with a time of 18:30.7.
