DWTS viewers brand Prince William’s cameo a ‘jumpscare’ as royal predicts winner

Prince William took a brief break from his royal duties to show his support for Season 34 Dancing with the Stars contestant Robert Irwin.
The 20th anniversary episode of the DWTS show, which aired on November 11, featured many special moments, including a cameo by the 43-year-old Prince of Wales. The royal appeared during 21-year-old Robert’s pre-performance confessional via video chat to give his “friend” a special message of encouragement ahead of him taking the DWTS stage with his professional dance partner Witney Carson, 32.
Prince William’s appearance might have been welcomed by Robert and Witney, but viewers at home didn’t appreciate him popping up on their screen.
“Prince William appearing on #DWTS was a f- -kn JUMP SCARE #DWTS34,” one ranted on X.
A second X user slammed, “that was so touching and moving but then we added in a prince william jumpscare #DWTS.”
William replied to Robert, “Going really well. The finalists this year are really gonna go on and save the world, we’re missing you Robert. Whilst your twinkle toes are going off elsewhere, I need you down here!”
After the jokes were over, William made a request to Witney before he revealed that he was confident that the dance couple could potentially win the coveted Mirrorball this season.
“Witney, you need to get him in as much glitter as you can,” he joked, before continuing, “Guys, you’ve got a seriously good chance of winning this, so just the best of luck on the show.”
For this Tuesday’s episode, Robert and Witney danced their Foxtrot to the same song his sister, Bindi, performed for her winning freestyle routine in Season 21, which was dedicated to their late father, Steve Irwin.
