‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Teaser Trailer: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway Return to Beloved Roles

A short-but-sweet teaser trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 shows the return of Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway to their iconic roles.
The first footage (below) shows Streep’s Miranda and Hathaway’s Andy meeting in an elevator. Not shown are co-stars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, who also reprise their roles from the 2006 fashion comedy.
In the footage, Miranda quips to Andy: “Took you long enough,” which both tracks with her demanding character and is a reference to fans waiting 19 years for sequel.
A little over a year ago, Hathaway was casting doubt on the prospect of the film even happening, telling a reporter in April, 2024, “I wouldn’t hold out too much hope.” And in 2002, the actress told The View, “I don’t know if there can be [a sequel]. I just think that movie was in a different era, you know?”
The film returns “to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway Magazine” and is directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna. New characters are played by Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora.
Sydney Sweeney was also reportedly spotted on set, but no role for the Euphoria actress has been announced or confirmed.
Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their roles as Lily and Irv from the first film.
The original film starred Hathaway as a recent graduate who scored a job at Vogue-like fashion magazine working under the demanding editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly. The movie was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel. Weisberger released a second book, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, in 2013.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is from 20th Century Studios and produced by Wendy Finerman, and executive produced by Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt and McKenna.
The film debuts in theaters May 1, 2026.
