Alison Hammond has made a frank confession about using weight loss injections after shedding 13st. The Great British Bake Off presenter hit back at criticism surrounding the use of such medication, challenging her detractors: “Would you rather me die from being obese?”.

The This Morning host achieved her remarkable transformation through four weekly sessions with a personal trainer. While Alison confirmed she has “absolutely not” used any injections to assist her journey she expressed frustration at the pressure to rule them out completely and wouldn’t dismiss using them in future, reports the Mirror. Speaking to Woman’s Own magazine she said: “I don’t like the fact that you have to say: ‘Oh, no, I wouldn’t have the jab ever’.

“Maybe next year. Do you know what? I might start jabbing up. What does it matter how people lose weight? Would you rather me die from being obese?”

The 50-year-old broadcaster maintained individuals should be free to consider every available option when pursuing better health. She continued: “If you want the jabs, if you want to go do gastric surgery, do it. Ultimately I want we should want people to live longer so if that is going to help you, by getting smaller, let yourself.”

Alison rejected suggestions that her fitness transformation was motivated by vanity. She explained: “The only reason I’ve lost weight is because I was at risk of diabetes.”

She also emphasised that despite her weight loss she remains “the same person” though she frequently notices headlines about her “showing off her new body”. She said: “I go: ‘No, I’m just walking down the street.’ It’s quite interesting to me that I’m just doing normal things and that is now highlighted as a thing.

“It’s troubling because I’m exactly the same person, bigger or smaller. There’s no difference at any time.”

Now, after celebrating her 50th birthday in February, Alison said she feels “amazing” and “happy within [herself]”.

In an interview with Bella magazine in May she said: “It’s no different to the last decade – it’s exactly the same.

“It just feels like I’ve been waiting in the queue at the Post Office a little bit longer than someone younger than me.

“There’s no difference in the queue, everything is exactly the same and you still see the same scenery, it’s just that I’ve been there longer.”
