An early morning fire damaged a downtown Winnipeg business on Friday.

Emergency crews were called to La Roca restaurant and bar, at Smith Street and York Avenue, just before 6 a.m.

At one point, according to the city’s incident response website, there were 13 emergency response units.

Parts of Smith, between York and St. Mary Avenue, were blocked by police are fire crews extinguished the flames.

The scene was mostly cleared by 8:30 a.m. with a single fire truck and three police cars still there.

No information on the cause of the fire, or amount of damage, has been made available.
