The Montreal Canadiens have been under fire in their last two games, and now they’ve announced the surprising recall of Jared Davidson.

This season has been a very exciting one for the Montreal Canadiens thus far, with the team posting a record of 10-5-2 through 17 games as they look to establish themselves as genuine contenders in the Atlantic Division this season.

Unfortunately, nothing went their way on Thursday, as the team were dominated by a score of 7-0 by the Dallas Stars, losing talented forward Alex Newhook to what could be a brutal injury in the process.

As a result, the team have made a roster move on Friday, with the organization officially announcing on social media that they have recalled talented young forward Jared Davidson to serve as depth as they look to sort out the roster following two tough losses.

The 23-year old was a fifth-round pick of Montreal back in 2023, and this season he’s been off to a great start in the AHL with the Laval Rocket, posting 9 goals and 11 points through 13 games played.

He’s not expected to come in and play a major role for the team, as he’ll likely be their 13th forward over the coming days as they await details on the Newhook situation, but at 23-years of age, he’s shown enough promise to potentially receive an NHL debut in the coming days.

Ultimately, this is a team that’s thriving by giving their young talent opportunity and responsibility at the NHL level, and given how well Davidson has produced in the AHL over the past three years for the Rocket, don’t be surprised if he gets a good opportunity in the coming weeks for the Canadiens.
