AFLW Team Selection: Semi-final

Adelaide faces Melbourne on Saturday afternoon

Adelaide has announced an unchanged line-up for its semi-final clash against Melbourne at Ikon Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Crows will enter the clash following a dominant 44-point elimination final win against St Kilda, and have chosen to back in the same 21 players for the match against the Demons.

Adelaide Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said the Club was in a fortunate position to go into a final unchanged, and with a full squad of 30 active players available.

“Watching last week’s game, the team got it done, and although we did discuss some of the other players that are on the edge of the team, we felt unchanged was the best way to go,” Harper said.

“We thought everyone played their role last week and hopefully they can do it again this week.

“To have the whole 30 in our active squad fit and available is a luxury not many of the teams in the finals have, so we are pleased with that, but now they have to play their role.”

Adelaide will face Melbourne for the first time this season, with the Demons out to make amends for their qualifying final loss to Brisbane last week.

“We expect them to be good, really good,” Harper said.

“They’ll be hard to beat, especially over in Melbourne, but if we play at our best we should be given a good chance.

“All year Doc (Matthew Clarke) has been big on making sure we are peaking at the right time, and I feel he may well have us playing our best at the right time of year.”

Adelaide takes on Melbourne in a semi-final at Ikon Park on Saturday afternoon, with the first bounce at 12.35pm ACDT.
