Glen Powell channels Christopher Walken dancing in promo for his ‘SNL’ hosting debut

Glen Powell reveals Tom Cruise’s tips for his ‘Running Man’ stunts

Glen Powell shares Tom Cruise’s advice and reveals the toughest stunts he did in “The Running Man.”

Live from New York, Glen Powell is busting out his dance moves in a tip of the hat to Christopher Walken.

The “Running Man” star, 37, channeled Walken in a new promotional video for his “Saturday Night Live” episode, which is set to air on Nov. 15.

The promo video features Powell, wearing a suit, dancing his way through the “SNL” studio. He shows off some impressive moves before attempting a flip that goes horribly wrong, leading him to be taken away in a stretcher. “Don’t tell Lorne,” Powell insists to cast members Sarah Sherman and Andrew Dismukes.

The promo is a parody of the famous music video for Fatboy Slim’s 2001 track “Weapon of Choice,” in which Walken dances through a hotel.

Powell is set to make his “SNL” hosting debut on the show’s Nov. 15 episode, which will feature musical guest Olivia Dean. The episode is airing on the same weekend Powell’s latest action film “The Running Man,” an adaptation of the Stephen King novel that previously inspired the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film, hits theaters. The movie stars Powell as a man who must survive while being hunted down as part of a game show called The Running Man.

Powell recently told Extra there’s “nothing probably higher on my (bucket) list” than hosting “SNL.”

“I’ve grown up watching ‘SNL,'” he said. “My family, we watched all those box sets of every single great performer that’s been on the show. It was this wonderful thing that my dad, I think it premiered when he was in college, and it meant so much to him, and it meant so much to my mom, and my whole family. It was just something we all tuned in for, something we could share together.”

Though this will be Powell’s first time hosting “SNL,” it isn’t his first time appearing on the show.

When his “Anyone But You” costar Sydney Sweeney hosted in 2024, she joked in her monologue about claims that she had an affair with Powell. Sweeney denied the allegations by saying she is happily in love with her fiancé, who “came here tonight to support me,” only for the camera to cut to Powell sitting in the studio audience.

During the same episode, Powell made a cameo in a sketch where Sweeney’s character tells her boyfriend she cheated on him with her boss, played by the “Top Gun: Maverick” actor.
