TUCSON, Ariz. — No. 5 Arizona stayed perfect on the young season with a commanding 84–49 victory over Northern Arizona on Monday night at McKale Center, improving to 3–0 behind another balanced offensive showing and dominant defensive effort.
Freshman guard Dwayne Aristode led the Wildcats with a career-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from deep, providing an electric spark off the bench. He joins Mike Bibby, Salim Stoudamire, Jerryd Bayless and Bennedict Mathurin as the only Arizona freshmen to make six 3-pointers in a game.
Fellow freshman Koa Peat filled the stat sheet with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Jaden Bradley added 13 points and three assists. Center Motiejus Krivas controlled the paint with 12 points, seven rebounds, and a career-high four blocks in just 17 minutes.
Arizona jumped out early and never looked back, shooting 47% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc while holding the Lumberjacks to 32% overall and just 25% from three-point range. The Wildcats’ defense forced 13 turnovers and converted them into 25 points, showcasing their athleticism and pace in transition.
The first half set the tone as Arizona sprinted to a 46–17 lead at halftime behind six made threes and a 16–0 run that overwhelmed Northern Arizona. The 17 points allowed were the fewest by the Wildcats in a first half in McKale since 2020. Aristode, Krivas, and Bradley each had strong first-half performances that kept the McKale Center crowd of 13,740 on its feet.
Northern Arizona’s Traivar Jackson led the Lumberjacks with 10 points, while Karl Poom added seven.
Arizona’s bench once again showcased its depth, contributing 40 points as all 13 Wildcats saw action. The team also dominated the boards with a 45–32 advantage and notched nine blocked shots.
The Wildcats will look to stay unbeaten when they face No. 15 UCLA on Friday, Nov. 14, in the Experian Hall of Fame Series in Los Angeles.
