Jane Fonda is celebrating one of the most important people in her life.
The 9 to 5 actress made rare comments about her ex-husband Ted Turner, as she honored him during the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential (GCAPP) EmPower Party and Gala in Atlanta on Nov. 13.
Jane recognized her ex—who did not attend the ceremony and has remained largely out of the spotlight since his diagnosis of Lewy body dementia in 2018—for his contribution towards founding the Georgia-based organization with her in 1995, noting that it, “never would have happened if it wasn’t for Ted.”
“It was a very challenging time in Georgia,” the Oscar winner told the crowd at the event via People. “Had I not been with Ted, this was something, had he not stood by me with his love and support, we never would have survived.”
As she grew emotional, “Ted’s not here, but he is here in my heart and I know he is here in a lot of our hearts.”
