Indeed, Pau Cubarsi starts at the heart of the Spain defence, where he is partnered by Aymeric Laporte of Athletic Club.

Meanwhile, Barcelona forward Ferran Torres starts up top in attack for the reigning European champions, where he is partnered with Alex Baena and Mikel Oyarzabal.

Two other Barcelona stars, Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo, have been left out on the bench by De la Fuente, even though it was suggested in the buildup that both players had strong chances of starting.

Spain go into the game without several important players, including Barcelona duo Lamine Yamal and Pedri, both of whom are out with physical discomfort.

Lamine, for one, had initially been included in the squad only to be released on the day of the training camp, much to the fury of De la Fuente and the RFEF.
