Carr Named Semifinalist for Davey O’Brien Award

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Freshman quarterback CJ Carr continues his campaign as one of the best quarterbacks in college football, today named a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award.
Carr has also been named a semifinalist for the 2025 Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award.
Through nine games this season, Carr has completed 152 passes for 2,275 yards and 19 touchdowns. He has also rushed for two touchdowns. Carr leads all FBS players in yards per pass attempt (10.11), and ranks third among all FBS players in passing efficiency (176.8), third in passing yards per completion (14.97) and 17th in passing touchdowns (19). He leads all freshman FBS players in passing efficiency and passing yards per completion, and ranks second in passing touchdowns.
Carr and Notre Dame’s offense has been explosive this season. Notre Dame ranks third in the nation in team passing efficiency (176.70), fourth in turnover margin (1.11), sixth in the nation in passing yards per completion (14.91), ninth in scoring offense (38.7), 15th in total offense (466.1) and 17th in sacks allowed (1.11).
Carr was recognized nationally in several instances for his Arkansas performance. in which Carr completed 22 passes for 354 yards and four touchdowns and posted the most first-half passing yards (294) by an Irish quarterback since 2008. He was named a Manning Award Star of the Week and Manning Award Quarterback of the Week, the Shaun Alexander Award Freshman of the Week, and a member of the Davey O’Brien Great 8.
