Fans have rallied to try and keep Vicky Pattison in Strictly Come Dancing so she can make it through to Blackpool. And their support comes after the Newcastle born star suffered a bit score setback on Saturday night.
Former I’m A Celebrity winner Vicky was the toast of the Strictly ballroom last week, when she and pro partner Kai Widdrington got by far and away their highest score so far of 39 out of 40, thanks to their fantastic tango to Taylor Swift’s Fate of Ophelia. Having watched Vicky and Kai in action, judge Motsi Mabuse said the performance cemented her opinion that Vicky was a ‘real contender’ for the final and, when it came to the scores, Craig Revel-Horwood was the only one not to give a 10.
Sadly for Vicky and Kai, the highs of seven days earlier weren’t mirrored on Saturday night, when their jive to Girls Aloud’s Sound of the Underground only scored 27, leaving them joint bottom of the leaderboard with Balvinder and Julian. The harshest of the panel, Craig told Vicky that some of the routine felt ‘flat footed,’ with Motsi noticing ‘some mistakes;’ at the beginning and Anton Du Beke, who has been a big Vicky fan from day one, said it ‘wasn’t her best.’
Going into this week, Vicky was nowhere near favourite to be eliminated next, instead being fancied for the final, but having seen her slump to the foot of the standings and in a precarious position, fans were concerned for her future on the show, as they took to social media to reveal Vicky and Kai were getting ‘all their votes’ this week.
Taking to X, one posted: ‘All 5 votes to Vicky to get her out of the dance off’ with another reacting: ‘All 5 of my votes went to Vicky and Kai this evening – from top to bottom of the leaderboard she needs our votes to get to Blackpool.’ While wanting her to avoid the dance-off, another Vicky fan feared the worst, as they wrote: ‘Bottom Two is hard to call but I’m predicting Balvinder vs Vicky… Balvinder because she just isn’t getting the votes and Vicky because while I do think she won’t be the Bottom Two with votes alone, I just don’t think she will be able to close the gap in score points.’
