Santa Claus is coming to town today as the annual Beaches Santa Claus Parade takes place along Kingston Road this afternoon.

The Sunday, Nov. 16, parade will start at Kingston Road and Victoria Park Avenue at 1 p.m.

The parade route will then head west along Kingston Road, before turning north at Walter Street, just before Main Street, and finishing at Centre 55 at Swanwick Avenue and Main Street.

First held in 2006, the Beaches Santa Claus parade has become a community tradition enjoyed by generations of residents.

Presented by Centre 55, the parade not only welcomes Santa Claus to the community but also serves as the kickoff to fundraising for the annual Share A Christmas campaign which supports families in need during the upcoming holiday season.

Those attending the parade are reminded they can bring toonies for Centre 55 volunteers to collect. Toy donations for Share A Christmas can be dropped off after the parade at Centre 55.

There are more than 40 groups and organizations participating in today’s Beaches Santa Claus Parade including the Malvern Collegiate Band, the Toronto Beaches Lions Club, Beach Metro Community News, local politicians including Mayor Olivia Chow, the Toronto Fire Pipes and Drums Band, the Optimists Alumni Drum Corps Band, and the Eastdale Collegiate Samba Drum Band.
