Snow squall watches issues for west of Waterloo Region

It’s a wet and windy start to Sunday morning in Waterloo Region.
Environment Canada says the region can expect some rain showers this morning, possibly turning into snow flurries later in the day.
570 meteorologist Carl Lam warns that the wind will be a big factor.
“Those gusts today could be up to 60, even 70 km/hr at times,” he said. “It will still be very windy tonight and even into tomorrow.”
Some extra snow could also be in the forecast. Several areas west of the Region, including Stratford, Woodstock and Goderich have been issued snow squall warnings. That changed from a snow squall watch earlier Sunday morning. Lam notes the totals are “wide ranging” and will vary depending on the area.
“They could be anywhere between 20 to 40 cm of snow,” he said noting snow could continue into the afternoon and even Monday morning.
With the snow squall warnings in effect, drivers are reminded to be cautious as they could lead to reduced visibility.
