Corrie star QUITS rival soap just months into new role and is quietly recast

FORMER Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan bowed out earlier this year and quickly landed a new role in a rival soap – but now she’s quit that too.

The actress – who played Daisy Midgeley for four years in the ITV soap – left the soap in May having decided she wanted to spread her wings away from Weatherfield.

Days after her final scenes aired it was announced that Charlotte had joined BBC Radio 4 soap The Archers as a mysterious newcomer called Amber.

Speaking about the role on This Morning, Charlotte said she was “looking forward to a fresh start”.

However just months later and shrouded in secrecy, Charlotte has quit the soap – with the role being recast.

A source said: “Charlotte was very excited to join The Archers but when she landed a new TV role she couldn’t do both.

“Sadly she had to bow out forcing bosses to recast at the last minute.

“She’s looking forward to return to screens in the new year and has been busy filming the new show.”

Actress Olivia Bernstone has now taken over the role of Amber going forward.

Charlotte is now going to be one of the three lead characters in new BBC period drama The Hairdresser Mysteries alongside Sally Phillips and Charlotte Hope.

The series sees a new hairdresser, Lily Petal, played by Sally, moving into a small village in the 70s and beginning to uncover all the residents’ secrets.

Meanwhile Charlotte’s new job can also be revealed as having a Coronation Street link too.

The period drama has been created by renowned playwright Jim Cartwright – who is the father of current Corrie villain Theo – actor James Cartwright.

And the entire production was funded with the money saved by the BBC after it axed daytime soap Doctors.

Reps for Charlotte have been contacted for comment.
