Person in custody after shooting at West Side business sends person to hospital

A person was taken to a local hospital after being shot at a West Side business on Sunday night, Madison police reported.
At about 10:05 p.m., officers were sent to a business in the 600 block of South Whitney Way for a person who had been shot, police said in a statement.
The person was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The department’s Violent Crime Unit and the Special Weapons and Tactics unit served a search warrant Monday in the 700 block of Whitney Way as a result of the shooting investigation, and a person of interest was taken into custody on a Department of Corrections hold around 1:40 p.m.
Police said they believe the shooting was targeted.
