The Republic of Ireland topped Group J with wins over Panama and Uzbekistan securing their place in the Round of 32 before their final group game against Paraguay, which ended 0-0.
In the last 32, Colin O’Brien’s team faced a formidable Canada. Michael Noonan netted his third goal of the campaign to give Ireland the lead, only for Canada to level five minutes from time. The game went to penalties, with the young boys in green ultimately triumphing 9-8.

For Switzerland, they had a similar time in Group F, earning wins over Ivory Coast and Mexico either side of a scoreless draw against South Korea. Their last 32 clash had them go up against Egypt, winning 3-1.
