FIFA U-17 World Cup: Morocco, Brazil, France, Mexico, Ireland Advance to Round of 16
Doha, November 14 (QNA) – The Moroccan national team reached the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 after defeating the US 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra time in the Round of 32.
The US took the lead through Jody Terry in the 21st minute, before Morocco equalized through Abdellah Ouzan in the 90th minute.
With this victory, Morocco will face Mali in the Round of 16, after Mali defeated Zambia 3-1 earlier Friday.
Brazil also secured their place in the next round after defeating Paraguay 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation and extra time.
Brazil will face France in the Round of 16 of the tournament.
France qualified for the next round with a 2-0 victory over Colombia, with goals from Antoine Valero in the 14th minute and Pierre Monguignon in the 94th minute.
Mexico also advanced to the Round of 16 after defeating Argentina 5-4 on penalties, following a 2-2 draw in regulation and extra time.
Argentina took the lead in the 9th minute through Ramiro Toljan, before Luis Gamboa equalized for Mexico in the 46th minute. Gamboa then put Mexico ahead in the 58th minute, but Argentina leveled the score again through Fernando Colster in the 87th minute.
Mexico will face Portugal in the next round, after Portugal defeated Belgium 2-1.
Ireland also advanced to the next round, defeating Canada 9-8 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra time.
Ireland took the lead through Michael Noonan in the 65th minute, before Canada equalized through Sergei Kozlovsky in the 85th minute.
Ireland will face Switzerland in the round of 16, after Switzerland defeated Egypt 3-1 earlier Friday. (QNA)
