Top 2026 Pa. prospect, Harrisburg star decommits from Penn State
Penn State has taken another massive hit on the recruiting trail.
Harrisburg standout offensive tackle Kevin Brown decommitted from the Nittany Lions on Sunday, he told PennLive.
Brown had been committed to Penn State and coach James Franklin since July 2024, but after Franklin was fired on Oct. 12, things changed in the highly touted 2026 four-star’s recruitment. He took visits to both Ohio State and West Virginia — his father’s alma mater — in recent weeks.
Brown told PennLive after those trips that he was waiting to see if the next Penn State coach would retain offensive line assistant Phil Trautwein, but he acknowledged he could not wait forever.
Now, Brown said he expects to commit to a new school in the coming week. He intends to sign with his future program at the start of December and enroll early this winter.
The Harrisburg High star ranks as the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania and the No. 61 player in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Brown is also now the highest-ranked uncommitted prospect in the nation.
His Cougars defeated Manheim Township this past weekend, 34-7, to advance to the district finals this week against Central York.
Brown did not play in the game.
As for Penn State, losing Brown is perhaps the biggest loss in a long line of the on the recruiting trail recently. He is an extremely athletic and powerful tackle who profiles well at the next level.
The Lions have dwindled from 25 commitments before Franklin’s departure to just 13 now. Brown was the fourth player to decommit or flip in the past week, joining three-star DL Isaac Chukwurah, three-star OL Jack Fuchs and four-star defensive back David Davis.
