Alisha, who is currently 16, was just around the perfect age to take on the role and everything seemed to line up for her to be cast as Dorothy.

The rumors surfaced after Alisha walked the red carpet at the Wicked premiere in London back in November 2024.

Alisha has experience doing movie musicals after playing the title character in Netflix’s Matilda adaptation. She also has a relationship with Universal Pictures after starring in the studio’s hit thriller movie Abigail.

Alisha was asked about the rumors and she said, “The rumors have gone pretty crazy and I’ve seen it everywhere. I mean, that would be really, really, really cool. I would love that and I’m such a big fan of Wicked and the first part is so incredible. That would be pretty cool.”

Well, the rumors weren’t true.

The role of Dorothy is actually played by Bethany Weaver, who is a UK-based dancer and choreographer.

Here’s what the Wicked cast has said about making a third movie.
