NBA fans reacted to the Cleveland Cavaliers being fined $100,000 for resting Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley from the game against the Miami Heat on Nov. 12. Despite the absence of their two star players, the Cavaliers came out with a 116-130 win.
The resting policy violated the league’s regulations, which are in their third year of existence to check load management from teams. According to the policy, no more than one star player can be rested by a team. The star player is any player who has made an All-Star selection in the last three years.

Cleveland Cavaliers in the last stage of having a roster to win it all
In the last three seasons, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference since LeBron James’ departure. Last season, they were the second-best team in the league, only behind the NBA champions OKC Thunder.
The Cavs again have a great record and have a legitimate chance to get out of the conference when the Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers suffer with a shortened roster. With only the New York Knicks and potentially the 7ers standing in their way, the Cavs would want to capitalize on the opportunity.
Moreover, there is another glaring factor that might soon paralyse the elite roster of the team. They have an elite roster with All-NBA players in Donovan Mitchell and 4x All-Star players.
However, it might not last much longer. They are the only team in the league still in the second apron. Under the new rule, they won’t be able to stay in the second apron for a long time, given the heavy luxury taxes. In short, it is now or never for the Cavaliers.
