DALLAS — For the first time this season, the Dallas Mavericks won’t have Cooper Flagg in the lineup.
Flagg will miss the Mavericks’ nationally televised game Wednesday against the New York Knicks with an illness, the team announced. Flagg is averaging 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists this season. He leads the Mavericks in total minutes.
Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford were listed as probable heading into the Knicks game but will play. Both Mavericks centers missed Dallas’ blowout loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday due to injury management.
Meanwhile, Anthony Davis remains out for the Mavericks. Davis suffered a left calf strain in the team’s Oct. 29 game against the Indiana Pacers. He is expected to be re-evaluated sometime next week. The Mavericks are 2-8 without him.
Dallas, which is 4-11, has had a home-heavy schedule to begin this season. Once it completes its current three-game homestand Saturday, it will have played 13 of its first 18 games at American Airlines Center.
