Forbes has released its first Hotel Icons List of the world’s most legendary five-star hotels.
Four of the 23 hotels honored are located in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The list includes the Chatman Bars Inn and Wequassett Resort and Golf Club on Cape Cod.
Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn Westerly were also chosen.
Honorees must have a history of more than 100 years, have continuous operation under the same name and have a five-star rating.
