Talking points

Timely reinforcements
Despite still sporting a large injury list, the JackJumpers will finally welcome back David Johnson to the lineup on Friday.

The star import hasn’t featured since Round 1, when the JackJumpers last went to Perth.

And with Tasmania currently on a five-game losing streak, the return of the American forward is a timely one, as the NBL24 champions look to stay in touch with the the competition’s top five sides.

Big Lual-Acuil Jr game incoming?
With no Will Magnay defending the rim for Tasmania, all signs point to a bigs scoring game from Perth star Jo Lual-Acuil Jr.

Only once has the South Sudanese international been held to less than 10 points in a game this season and that was last round against New Zealand, meaning the big man is sure to come out aggressive and ensure he adds to that double-digit points tally.

What they’re saying

Perth coach John Rillie on how his team plan to dominate inside the paint:
“We have a good front court, but it all goes hand in hand.

“It’s their mentality and their attitude to it. Then it’s their connection to the guards.

“Everyone has to play that role so everyone feels they are benefiting from it.”

JackJumpers coach Scott Roth on continuing their strong road record (winning 4/6 this season):
“If you’re a player of any sort, you like to just go and play and we’ll look forward to going to Perth.

“The weather will be a little warmer than it’s been here, which will be nice, and it’s a great atmosphere to go play there.

“They are on a roll there and playing very, very well, and seem to have their roster intact so it should be a good test for us again.”
