As we just reported, US President Donald Trump spoke briefly about the peace plan his administration is proposing – although he offered little in the way of firm details.

More broadly, the White House has not – at least publicly – discussed the various parts of the deal that have been shared by Ukrainian officials and reported on by the world’s media.

In a briefing for reporters at the White House yesterday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have been “engaging both sides equally to understand what these countries would commit to”.

“It’s a good plan for both Russia and Ukraine,” she said, without providing further details. “We believe that it should be acceptable to both sides. And we’re working very hard to get it done.”

The same day, a US official said that “both sides” will have to make concessions and that the plan has been in the works for a month.

We will bring you more from the White House today as we get it – stay with us.
