‘Australia’s not high-growth’: ANZ boss hits Labor on productivity

ANZ Banking Group boss Nuno Matos has called on the Albanese government to kick start average Australian economic growth by accelerating the economic reforms identified in this year’s productivity roundtable, or risk global investors parking their money in other, more dynamic markets.

Matos, who spent his career working in Asia before joining ANZ in May, said big offshore investors believed Australia’s economic growth was “average” to “medium” and wanted more growth-minded productivity commitments from the public and private sectors before piling into Australian companies.
