Welcome back to the Strictly live blog, a grande dame with significantly fewer facelifts than the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
Yes, this week we’re in England’s home of ballroom dancing, which makes it all the sadder that La Voix – whose determination to make it here arguably helped her romp through both the judges and audience vote – is off games having had an injury in rehearsal. All fingers crossed that she and Aljaž will be safely back next week, rather than following Stefan Dennis and Dani Dyer in being too hurt to continue.
La Voix will need every ounce of strength because next week sees the new Instant Dance challenge, with contestants preparing a dance in 10 seconds. But that’s next week – back to Blackpool!
With another shocking dance-off behind us that saw Vicky having to say goodbye on her actual birthday, we’ve got six contestants this week, some familiar faces returning to dance. This weekend’s shows will also feature performances from Lewis Capaldi, Steps and returning Strictly finalists Ashley Roberts, Danny Mac, Jay McGuiness and Layton Williams.
