A Strictly Come Dancing star has shared a recovery update on Amy Dowden, saying, “She’s really good”.
The 35-year-old Welsh professional dancer was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 after discovering a lump during her honeymoon.
Her diagnosis meant she had to step away from the Strictly dance floor that year, and she courageously shared her health journey, receiving an outpouring of support from fans and fellow stars.
Several months later, Amy announced that there was “no evidence of disease”. However, just last week, she revealed she was undergoing another mastectomy following discussions with her medical team.
During Wednesday’s (November 12) episode of Lorraine, Amy’s Strictly co-star Carlos Gu offered an encouraging update on his dear friend, reports Wales Online.

Lorraine Kelly asked: “You, of course, Carlos, are great pals with our lovely Amy. How is she doing? She is remarkable, isn’t she? She’s had to have another operation.”
Carlos responded: “We have phone calls every day, and I love her and I miss her. Surprisingly, she’s recovering better than I thought.
“You know her, she’s so positive. Nothing can put her down. She’s like, ‘I’m coming back, I’ve got this’. She’s so positive.
“She even asks me to send videos and give me your comments, give me your score. She’s doing really good, I’m pleased. I’m really pleased for her.”
Lorraine continued: “Oh, that’s great, because she’s been so wonderful about talking very openly about having breast cancer, about the whole treatment that she had. Of course, she had to have another operation recently.

“But you know what, you knock her down and she bounces back up again. It’s incredible. Of course, we’re sending her all our love. She’s just great, really just brilliant.”
This comes after Amy posted an “exciting” update following her surgery on Monday (November 10).
Posting to her Instagram Story, the professional dancer revealed: “I am recovering really, really well. I’m really excited because I’m about to get my drain taken out. Honestly, that’s gonna make me feel so much better.
“It’s quite uncomfortable, so I’m so excited, and I know I’m gonna recover even faster when the drain is out. But I’m doing really, really well. Thank you for all your lovely messages – they really, really mean a lot.”
Amy has since revealed that she “dreams” of dancing again once she’s fully recovered, and eagerly anticipates making the “most of every second, step and beat”.
