An A350-900 engine incident caused delay for China Airlines Taipei–Los Angeles service.
China Airlines flight CI6, an Airbus A350-900 scheduled to operate from Taipei to Los Angeles, experienced an engine-related incident on Friday after its left engine ingested foreign object debris (FOD) shortly after pushback.
The aircraft involved, registered B-18915, had just been moved from the gate at Taoyuan International Airport when ground crews detected that debris was pulled into engine No. 1 (left) Rolls-Royce Trent XWB as it spooled up during the pushback sequence.

Following the event, the crew immediately shut down the affected engine, halted further preparations for departure. The aircraft was finally took off late, expected to land at Los Angeles Airport with one-hour delay.
Foreign object debris ingestion, while relatively rare, can pose significant risks to aircraft engines, especially during ground operations when loose materials on the ramp can be lifted by airflow.
Airport authorities are reviewing ramp conditions and procedures to determine how the debris entered the aircraft’s operating area.
