FORM AND HISTORY

Benavidez, undefeated and packing 24 knockouts in 30 fights, is coming off a gruelling fight with David Morrell. But the Phoenix native is promising a smarter, more surgical approach this time.

“I’m expecting to go in there and hurt him in every single round. If the opportunity presents itself and I can stop him or knock him out, I’m definitely going to be trying to do it all night,” he told DAZN.

Yarde is chasing redemption after two heart-breaking world title losses. The London puncher is all gas, all power, and looking to land some big shots. “It’s going to be a shootout,” he told Boxing News 24. “Yeah, heavy artillery … that’s the stylistic way of this fight. That’s the way he fights. That’s the way I fight.”

Analysts reckon Benavidez has the edge in stamina and strategy, but one clean shot from Yarde and it could all be over in a flash.

Haney, who had been expected to pursue a rematch with Ryan Garcia before the latter loss to Rolly Romero, could become a three-weight world champion if he prevails.

But Norman Jr. will be one of the trickier title holders in a crowded division right now, one which could see a significant sea change over the next year.

ODDS

Bookmakers have made their stance pretty clear – Benavidez is a dominant favourite, sitting at roughly $1.10 with TAB and other major betting outlets to keep hold of his WBC light heavyweight crown.

It’s expected that Benavidez’s forward pressure and work rate will take over as the rounds go by, with many tipping him to take command and potentially score a late stoppage.

Anthony Yarde arrives firmly in the outsider’s seat, drifting between $6.50 and $7.50 with Aussie bookmakers.

His hope rests on the kind of game-changing power that could flip the fight on its head in an instant, particularly in the early rounds.

PREDICTION FROM EXPERT CHRIS WALKER

Anthony Yarde has been here before, but can he get it right at the third time of asking?

Losses to Sergey Kovalev and Artur Beterbiev at world title level have ruined Yarde’s dreams in the past and he faces another stern test in the shape of David Benavidez.

The Arizona man is on the verge of becoming a big star and a win over Yarde on one of the year’s biggest shows could be the platform to push on in 2026.

Look for Benavidez to respect Yarde’s power in the early stages before pulling away in the second half for a convincing points win.
