Report: Aaron Rodgers out against Bears, Mason Rudolph to start

Aaron Rodgers will not play on Sunday against the Bears.

The 41-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback fractured his left wrist in last Sunday’s 34-12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and despite practising this week, will be sidelined against Chicago, head coach Mike Tomlin told CBS Sports.

“He fought his tail off all week, but that’s the prudent play for us as a collective, so he won’t be playing this week,” Tomlin said.

Rodgers has been solid in his first year in Pittsburgh (6-4), throwing for 19 touchdowns against seven interceptions, and posting a respectable 97.7 QBR.

No quarterback in NFL history has more wins against the Bears than Rodgers. The longtime Green Bay Packers starter has a record of 24-5 against Chicago, but will not get the chance to add another win to his ledger.

Mason Rudolph will make his first start of the season against the Bears (7-3) in Rodgers’ place. The longtime Steelers backup left to play for the Tennessee Titans in 2024, but returned to Pittsburgh this season to back up Rodgers.
