Chiefs’ Andy Reid’s New Announcement Is Bad News for Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs are just 5-5 as they enter Week 12 NFL action. If the season were to end today, they would miss the playoffs. At this point in time, there is a lot of concern surrounding the team.

Despite the concerns about the Chiefs, the presence of Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid gives them a fighting chance to turn things around. There is no reason for panic just yet.

In Week 12, Kansas City will play host to the Indianapolis Colts. The Chiefs have had a lot of trouble with the Colts over the years. A loss this week would start making the panic meter rise in Kansas City.

Ahead of the big showdown, Reid has spoken out with a concerning announcement regarding the status of a key player.

As shared by Nate Taylor of ESPN, Reid has announced that starting running back Isiah Pacheco will miss this week’s game. He hasn’t suffered a setback, but he will be unable to make his return to the field from a knee injury.

“It wasn’t a setback,” Reid said. “I think he’s coming out pretty good. I think that’s a plus.”

While the overall update was not horrible, the fact that Pacheco will miss the game is concerning. For Mahomes, it will place much more pressure on a passing game that has struggled quite a bit at times throughout the season.

Pacheco has played in eight games this season. He has carried the football 78 times for 329 yards and a touchdown, while also catching 11 passes for 43 yards and a score.

So far this season, the Chiefs have had trouble establishing the ground game. Outside of Pacheco, Kansas City has Kareem Hunt leading the way. He has recorded 353 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 86 carries.

It will be interesting to see how the Chiefs look this week against Indianapolis. To this point in the year, the Colts have been one of the best teams in the NFL. They enter Week 12 with an impressive 8-2 record and are fresh off their bye week.

Hopefully, Kansas City is ready to play. If the Chiefs have another sluggish game, they could easily find themselves staring at a 5-6 record and a long uphill battle to make the playoffs.
