Donald Glover suffered a stroke and doctors found ‘a hole’ in his heart as he reveals truth behind cancelled tour

Donald Glover is opening up about a recent health scare that forced him to cancel his tour last year.
At the time, he described it as an “ailment,” but Glover opened up about what really happened during a performance at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw.
The 42-year-old actor and musician, who performs under the name Childish Gambino, revealed a stroke forced him to cancel the remainder of his New World Tour last year.

“You guys voted for a ‘where have I been monologue,'” Glover said in clips that have been widely shared on social media from the event.
“I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana and I did the show anyway. I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’”
Glover joked that his first thought was “Here I am, still copying Jamie Foxx,” referring to the Blame It singer’s near-fatal stroke in 2023.
“That’s really like the second thing. The first thing was like, ‘I’m letting everybody down,'” Glover continued.

Glover was disappointed that he still hadn’t been to Ireland, and also revealed the health issues were more than just the stroke.
The Atlanta star explained doctors also “found a hole” in his heart, and he had to have two surgeries.
“They say everybody has two lives and the second life starts when you realise you have one,” Glover said.
“You got one life, guys, and I gotta be honest, the life I’ve lived with you guys has been such a blessing.”

In September 2024 Glover postponed the remaining North American dates for his The New World Tour, to focus on his “physical health for a few weeks.”
But the next month he was forced to cancel the shows altogether, putting it down to his health issues.
The rapper was due to head to Australia and New Zealand, but the shows were also cancelled.
“Unfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected,” Glover wrote in a statement to ticketholders last November.
“The upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand are cancelled. One of the last things I’d ever want to do is disappoint my fans.
“I really appreciate the support you have shown and know that I will do what I can to give u an exceptional experience when the time is right. Thank you.”
