Fremantle welcomes Mason Cox

Mason Cox has joined Fremantle on a two-year deal following the opening of the pre-season Supplemental Selection Period

Former Collingwood premiership forward/ruck Mason Cox has joined Fremantle on a two-year deal following the opening of the pre-season Supplemental Selection Period on Monday 24 November.

Raised in Texas, the 34-year-old spent 11 seasons with Collingwood, playing 139 games (127 goals) and was a member of the Magpies’ 2023 premiership side, where he recorded 31 hit outs.

Fremantle Head of Player Personnel David Walls revealed that following an extensive nationwide search, Cox would add to the Club’s depth with his experience and capacity to play forward and ruck.

Cox has signed with Fremantle until the end of season 2027.

“We see a real benefit with having a 211cm premiership ruck of the calibre of Mason Cox joining our program,” said Walls.

“We are really pleased with our ruck combination of Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson and see Mason adding to our depth in that department, his knowledge and experience will be really valuable.

“We have 19-year-old Aiden Riddle developing nicely and he will benefit greatly, along with Luke and Sean.

“We look forward to welcoming Mason to the Club.”

Following the signing of Cox on Monday, Fremantle have one remaining rookie list spot for the remainder of the 2026 season.
