Harrison Mevis and Kevin Austin Sign to 53-Man Rosters, amid several UFL to NFL transactions

As the NFL continues to move into the back half of the season, several spring football players have been seeing an increased role their teams, in addition to dealing with the whirlwind of roster moves for players at the backend. Recently NFL teams made several transactions for former spring football players that came up on the waiver wire.

Harrison Mevis Kicker-Birmingham Stallions

Mevis is officially a member of the 53-man roster for the Los Angeles Rams as the team prepares for their playoff push. After two elevations in which Mevis has been a perfect 9 of 9 and now seems to have a spot for a long-term opportunity.

Kevin Austin Wide Receiver- Birmingham Stallions

Austin made a push last year appearing in 8 games starting 2 for the Saints, and has appeared in one game so far this season for New Orleans. With injuries and transition, he’s back on the 53-man roster again for New Orleans hopefully finding stability during the back half of the season for the Saints.

Damon Arnette Defensive Back- Houston Roughnecks

Arnette was signed to the Texans 53-man roster, waived, and back on the practice squad for Houston during the final trek of the season. He’s appeared in two games this season, and if healthy should receive another elevation if needed. The former 1st round pick has recorded 3 tackles so far this season.

Kaden Davis Wide Receiver- Michigan Panthers

Davis joined the Browns 53-man roster however, was shuffled back to the practice squad after clearing waivers. He’ll be option for Cleveland who is now on their 3rd starting QB this season, and could be another late season elevation candidate.

Adrian Martinez Quarterback- Birmingham Stallions

Martinez like Arnette, and Davis was also an active roster player who was waived and signed to the practice squad. With Brock Purdy now back and healthy he’ll most likely remain there until the season is over unless another injury happens at the quarterback position. Martinez appeared in one game for San Francisco thanks to Mac Jones.

Final Thoughts:

The 2025 spring football class is on pace to earn almost 7.5 million dollars this season with spring football players earning collectively 58.3 million dollars collectively. The legacy of spring football players spans from the modern UFL (24-25), XFL, USFL, AAF, and the original UFL (09-12) with Giants Kicker Graham Gano still playing.
