Beavers Fall to Aces

St. Thomas, Virgin Islands – The Oregon State men’s basketball team fell to Evansville 73-69 Friday evening on the first day of the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas.
Noah Amenhauser led the Beavers with 17 points and five rebounds, as he played his best game as a Beaver. Josiah Lake II ended his night with 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting, as he continued his run of scoring in double-figures every game this season.
Isaiah Sy had nine points and five assists in his first start of the season. Dez White and Malcolm Christie recorded nine points apiece.
With the loss, the Beavers move to 3-2 on the season. They will now take on Iona Saturday.
Evansville jumped out to an early lead, but the Beavers battled back to go up 11-10. The Purple Aces took advantage of some cold Oregon State 3-point shooting to take a nine-point lead with seven minutes to go before the break.
The Beavers scored the final four points of the first half to head to the intermission trailing 30-28.
Josiah Lake II led Oregon State with 10 first-half points.
OSU scored on its first two possessions of the second half to retake the edge. The Aces brought the lead back to double figures with under eight minutes to play. The Beavers got back within five on an Amenhauser 3-point play with six minutes left, and got within two on a Malcolm Christie triple minutes later.
Oregon State could not retake the advantage from there as Evansville claimed the four-point victory.
The Beavers will face Iona Saturday at 2:30 p.m. PT.
