The United Kingdom’s Rivals was named Best Drama Series on Monday at the 53rd International Emmy Awards in New York City.
Hosted by Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, winners were announced in 16 categories, drawn from 64 nominees from a record 26 countries, with the UK taking home the most awards, with trophies seven categories.
Other winners tonight included the UK’s Ludwig for Best Comedy Series, Yo, adicto [I, Addict]’s Oriol Pla from Spain for Best Performance by an Actor and Until I Kill You‘s Anna Maxwell Martin from the UK for Best Performance by an Actress.
In addition to the competitive categories, special honors were handed out tonight in the ceremony at the New York Hilton Midtown, with Disney Entertainment co-chairman Dana Walden receiving the International Emmy Founders Award, and Brazil’s Grupo Globo president João Roberto Marinho the International Emmy Directorate Award.
